Crackelet Mermelada – Chilean Onion and Red Pepper Jam

Crackelet Mermelada is Costa's savory jam, sold under its Crackelet cracker brand in a 110 g pouch. Two flavors: Onion, the mermelada de cebolla, and Red Pepper, the mermelada de pimentón.

Both are sweet the way a jam is sweet, with the savory depth of the cooked vegetable behind it, and both carry soft pieces through them rather than a smooth puree. The label puts the vegetable at 35% of the Onion and 40% of the Red Pepper, counting the diced pieces and the pulp together.

The pouch makes its own suggestion: spread it on a Crackelet cracker with a little cream cheese. It works just as well over a wheel of cheese, on a sandwich, a burger or roast meat. The label calls it ideal para compartir, ideal for sharing.

Por qué te encantará

  • Costa's savory jam from Chile
  • Onion or Red Pepper, both with real pieces
  • Single 3.88 oz (110 g) pouch, about seven tablespoons
  • Sweet and savory, not a smooth spread
  • Made for cheese boards and crackers

It is named for Crackelet, the square Costa cracker it was made to go on. Galletas Soda works just as well, and for the sweet side of the shelf there is Watt's Mermelada.

Sobre Costa

Respuestas rápidas
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre las opciones?
Two flavors of the same savory jam. Onion is the mermelada de cebolla and Red Pepper is the mermelada de pimentón. Both are sweet and savory, and both carry real pieces.
¿A qué sabe?
Sweet first, the way any jam is, with the savory depth of the cooked vegetable behind it. Soft pieces run through both flavors rather than a smooth puree.
What do you serve it with?
The pouch makes its own suggestion: a Crackelet cracker with a little cream cheese. That is why Costa sells the jam under its cracker brand. It also works over a wheel of cheese, on a sandwich, a burger or roast meat.
Does it have real pieces in it?
Yes. Both packs are labeled con trozos, with pieces, so neither one is a smooth spread. The label puts the vegetable at 35% of the Onion and 40% of the Red Pepper, counting the diced pieces and the pulp together.
¿Qué tamaño tiene la mochila?
3.88 oz (110 g), about seven tablespoons. A small stand up pouch, sized for a cheese board rather than for the breakfast table.
Is this the same one sold in Chile?
Yes. Made in Chile by Costa, in the same 110 g Crackelet pouch sold there.
